Description

Drumstick(?). Wooden carved stick with a rounded face at one end. The face tapers to a rounded nose, and has a notch between the brows. Behind the head is a scooped out area, like the bowl of a spoon. The face has round black eyes, two large nostrils, and a wide open red mouth. There is also a section of red and then black down the curved portion of the handle, which is flat and angular on the opposite side. There is a fine line etched around the base of the handle, and halfway around the knot in the wood.

History Of Use

The purpose of the object is uncertain; said by a previous owner to be a drumstick.

Narrative

Said to have been bought at an auction in Victoria in the 1970s; gifted to the donor in the 1990s.
