Mask carved from wood. The face is sunken, with a raised nose ridge down the centre of the face. There are two small rectangular cutouts for eyes. High on either side of the head are two C-shaped ears. The brow ridge is rounded. There are areas where pigment is still visible.
Animal masks were carved by the Dogon to receive the spiritual energy of animals after death.
