Description

Unpainted wooden canoe paddle. T-shaped grip. Diamond shaped blade with a rounded tip. The shaft is cylindrical at the centre, but flattens at both ends where it meets the blade or grip.

Narrative

Canoe paddle. Found in the closet of a house on Savary Island in 1952, when the house was purchased by the donor's parents. Assumed to have been purchased by the previous owners during the time when Tla'amin would canoe to their lands on Savary Island to trade with visitors.
