Description

Wooden lion-like figure in a sitting position. Animal is carved from multiple pieces of wood. Head and body are one piece; body and neck are painted orange, face is dark green. Legs, tail and ears are separate; all components painted orange. Legs and tail nailed to body. Ears are inset and secured with glue. Eyes and mouth are incised, nose carved in low relief. Lines incised along front bottom edges of paws, imitating claws. Incisions are all painted black. Eyes are red, whiskers and nose done in black. Inner ears are painted red, with black lines along the outer edges. Black wavy lines painted across top of head and along neck, imitating a mane. Figure decorated with black dashes. Tip of tail is painted black.
