Description

Wooden lion-like figure in a standing position. Animal is carved from multiple pieces of wood; all components are naturally coloured with additional painted decoration. Head and body are one piece. Legs, tail and ears are separate. Legs and tail nailed to body. Ears are inset and secured with glue. Eyes are incised, nose carved in low relief. Mouth is open wide with sharp teeth and a slightly protruding tongue. Incised lines carved along front bottom edges of all paws, imitating claws. Eyes, nose and whiskers are painted black. Mouth and tongue are red, teeth done in white. Neck is painted pink-orange with black wavy lines throughout, imitating a mane(?). Grey wavy lines decorate body and legs.
