Stonecut and stencil print of a small family with the father standing in the centre, mother to the left and child to the right. Mother and father are forward facing and child is shown in profile, reaching towards the father. All are wearing white parkas, light brown mittens, and blue-green fur pants. The father and child have matching fur boots, the mother has dark blue boots. The mother’s parka has a long tail, ties in the front and multiple black bands along the bottom edge and cuffs. The father’s parka has a tassel-like decoration on top of the hood, and bands of black and red-orange around the bottom edge and cuffs. The child’s parka has black band decorations. Along the bottom edge of the print the title, technique, edition number, place made, date and artist signature are written in pencil. Signatures, in syllabics, with Cape Dorset Co-operative symbol stamped in top right corner. Canadian Eskimo Arts Council blind-embossed stamp in bottom right corner.
The carvings in this donation (3495/1-9) were mostly collected by Kathi McKay, who was a teacher on Baffin Island in the 1970s. She later lived in Yellowknife.
