Kokeshi style; red bands at top and bottom of slightly concave cylinder with incised prints at top and bottom; four red flowers with colour detail at front. Small face, wispy hair. Twenty-two characters under base.

History Of Use

Kokeshi are simple wooden Japanese dolls crafted as toys for children. Originally from the northeastern region of Japan, they are handmade from wood, having a simple, round trunk and head, without arms or legs. They have been in use for at least 150 years.
