Kokeshi style doll. Upper swells and widens to waist, then continues to cylinder. Base hollowed. Red, purple and yellow bands at waist. Large red flowers at base and waist. Red and purple concentric circles at top of head. Purple shading into black for hair.

History Of Use

Kokeshi are simple wooden Japanese dolls crafted as toys for children. Originally from the northeastern region of Japan, they are handmade from wood, having a simple, round trunk and head, without arms or legs. They have been in use for at least 150 years.
