Kokeshi style; shoulders ridged; irregularly incised circles on base; red and green bands at top and bottom. Cylinder slightly concave; two red flowers at front. Seven characters at bottom.
Kokeshi are simple wooden Japanese dolls crafted as toys for children. Originally from the northeastern region of Japan, they are handmade from wood, having a simple, round trunk and head, without arms or legs. They have been in use for at least 150 years.
