Kokeshi style; incised circle on base; red and narrow green bands at top (double) and bottom ; wide yellow bands above and below waist; rounded shoulders; cylinder slightly concave; thirteen characters on back; three on the base.
Kokeshi are simple wooden Japanese dolls crafted as toys for children. Originally from the northeastern region of Japan, they are handmade from wood, having a simple, round trunk and head, without arms or legs. They have been in use for at least 150 years.
