Kokeshi style; incised circle on base; two large red flowers on front; wide red and narrow green bands at top and bottom; red ornaments in hair. Twenty-four printed or stamped ? characters on back. Four on base.

History Of Use

Kokeshi are simple wooden Japanese dolls crafted as toys for children. Originally from the northeastern region of Japan, they are handmade from wood, having a simple, round trunk and head, without arms or legs. They have been in use for at least 150 years.
