Kokeshi style; sunken disc in base; cylinder slightly concave; red and narrow green bands at top and bottom; incised rings at top and bottom; four red flowers on front with purple dashes above. Small face on large head; six characters on base.

History Of Use

Kokeshi are simple wooden Japanese dolls crafted as toys for children. Originally from the northeastern region of Japan, they are handmade from wood, having a simple, round trunk and head, without arms or legs. They have been in use for at least 150 years.
