Description

Multan pottery vase. Floral and geometric designs painted in dark blue and turquoise, with a white glaze. Vase is somewhat hour-glass shaped; the lower sides indent toward the round, unglazed base. The inside is mainly unglazed except for the top 4 cm which have uneven glaze over unpainted clay. Some small chips around the rim; five chips of surface material missing around lower body.

Narrative

Purchased by the donor in Multan, between 1968-1971, during a period when she was living in Pakistan.

Multan village blue pottery (kashikari); made in a village kiln.
