Pottery bowl with glaze patterns in turquoise blue and off-white, with smaller designs in dark brown. The round bowl has deep sides, a wide lip and a footed base. The base is unglazed and has written inscriptions with date and place information.
Purchased by the donor in Istalif, Afghanistan in 1970, during a vacation, while she and her husband were living in Pakistan. Istalif was at that time a summer retreat for wealthy Afghans; the area was known for its fruit and nut trees.
