Description

Clay pot decorated with wedged and incised motifs along sides. Ceramic has a small circular opening with a flared rim; extends into a long neck that flares out to a sharp shoulder. Upper half of body slopes to a pointed ridge that circles pot; bottom half rounds to a flat foot. Triangle designs wedged along edge of shoulder; "X"'s incised in a band around upper half of body. "X"s have lines in between each of them; plain line runs underneath all "X"'s. Pieces of grain(?) embedded in bottom interior of pot. Unsigned.

Narrative

A friend of the donor bought several pots from the artist in 1969, in Keningau, Sabah, and gave this pot to him.

Specific Techniques

Pot was shaped using "paddle" technique.
