Description

Decorated dart blowgun. Long, thin cylindrical tube wrapped with brightly coloured threads in solids or in patterns by twisting two colours together. There are ten sections, each with a background colour with solids bands at centre, or a pattern with alternating bands a centre. The sections are yellow with black bands, blue and black with green and white bands, orange with light blue bands, yellow and black pattern with pink and black bands, purple with white bands, pink and white pattern with black and white bands, blue with yellow and light blue bands, purple and white pattern with yellow and black bands, orange with white bands, and light green with black bands. There are small white feathers included at random. One end has clear adhesive tape wrapped around it.

Narrative

The donor's parents lived in Caracas, Venezuela, for a few years in the 1970s, where they purchased these pieces (3579/1-11). The Yekuana people live mainly in Amazonas and Bolivar states.
