Description

Carrying basket with straps. Large basket with a square base, bulbous mid-section, and loosely woven flared rim. A thick plaited strap is tied just below the flared top, and is threaded through the open weaving, leaving a loop on each side, and the remaining cord hangs on the exterior.

Narrative

The donor's parents lived in Caracas, Venezuela, for a few years in the 1970s, where they purchased these pieces (3579/1-11). The Yekuana people live mainly in Amazonas and Bolivar states.
