Description

Small pot (part a) with lid (part b). The small pot has two small pointed handles on opposite edges that are painted blue with some brown on the inward-facing sides. The bottom half of the pot has two rows of repeating floral designs - brown centre dots surrounded by circles of small off-white dots. The bowl is deep, with straight walls, and a small ridge for the lid to sit on. The lid has a flat top, and rounded sides. The sides have the same repeating floral designs as the pot, and the small handle at centre is painted blue. There are two small holes pierced through the lid. The pot and lid are glazed.

Narrative

The donor purchased the pottery from the owners in Mexico City in 1981-83. In 1982 he found similar examples being sold in the market in Atlacomulco. Made as domestic ware.
