Description

Cream-coloured matron's blouse with long, stiff-cap sleeves and front opening; secured with six buttons. Entire blouse is decorated with embroidered pink and red flowers, with white detailing throughout. Cuffs, bottom edge, and opening of blouse are trimmed with a wavy line of silver sequins. Bottom edge of main body of blouse is pleated and has light blue scallops along the bottom and top edges of the pleated band. Buttons are plastic; top is three-piece and pink, rest are gold with blue dots and semi-circle decorations. Blouse interior is unlined.

History Of Use

A matron's blouse would replace the vest, sleeves, and collar of a young woman's outfit once she was married.

Narrative

Gifted to the donor, along with 3627/1 a-g, by her cousin when she travelled to the Czech Republic with her family in 1973.
