Long-sleeved, dark blue robe; large patch pockets on sides. Round neckline, with thin slit that extends down from centre; slit would secure shut with a button clasp, button has been lost. Neckline and centre opening embroidered with swirls, waves, and ovals with circles on tips; done in thick silver thread. Additional embroidery to right of centre opening, and on back of sleeves. Design on chest consists of circle and dot motifs. Sleeves have a long irregular-shaped diamond, with swirls and a wavy line through the middle. Slits extend from bottom edge, along sides and front centre; robe flares at waist. Neckline is lined, rest of robe unlined.
Textiles were acquired by the donor, and her mother, in the mid-1960s, in the Hausa area. They were for their personal use, or their husband's.
