Headdress Item Number: 3681/1 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Rattan headdress; circular band done in plain weave, four rows high. Left and right sides are connected with an overhead arch. Arch has a frame of two pieces of rattan, secured to outer edges of band, with additional fibre loosely wrapping around the two pieces. Wrapped fibres form a repeating "X" pattern; ends are woven into interior of band. Groups of solid and bi-coloured feathers tied between arch's attachment points, on either side of headdress; more feathers on left side of arch.
Purchased by the donor at a roadside shop somewhere between Baguio and Banaue in the late 1980s.
