Model Totem Pole Item Number: 3695/1 from the MOA: University of British Columbia



Ivory carving of model totem pole, in Northwest Coast style. Has two figures - bear or wolf-like animal on top, and a bird with a flat, down-turned beak at the base. Eyes are dark with pigment(?). The carving is cylindrical, tapering in to a pointed top. The top is angled, and the bottom has a small peg.
This pole was carved in Japan for the early 20th-century North American curio market.
