Description

Small rectangular ground adze or celt fashioned from brown nephrite. Use-wear on bit which is square and biconvex in profile. Parallel sides with slightly rounded poll. Rectangular cross-section with rounded lateral edges. Detachment grooves and ground snap fractures present on both lateral edges.

Provenance

"Birth Control Site" below Deadman's Eddy; Fraser Canyon, east side of river. Marked on accompanying map in small bay at location "021"; Bag 1/2.
