Basket Item Number: 2022.O.007:3 from the Sto:lo Research & Resource Management Centre
Medium sized round cedar basket. The base and top five rounds are made in the cedar coil technique and the sides are made with the cedar slat technique. There is red cherry bark decorations on the sides in the shape of diamonds and triangles. There is translucent crystallized plastic or glue residue on the inside of the basket and white powder. There looks like a small repair was done on the base with beige thread.
Basket was bought by the grandmother of the donor (Myrtle Ferguson) in Chilliwack in the 1930's from a lady going door to door. They lived on Hazel street and also at Cultus lake during the 1930's.
