A circular silver medal, One side has the crowned coinage effigy of King George VI, facing left, surrounded by GEORGIVS VI D : BR : OMN : REX ET INDIAE IMP :. The Reverse shows a lion standing on the body of a double headed dragon. The dragons heads are those of an eagle. At the top , right center are the dates 1939/1945 in two lines. The ribbon consists of seven coloured stripes:red,dark blue, white, red, white, dark blue and red. The ribbon is also starting to unthread
War medal 1939-1945. Has WAR MEDAL 39-45 stamped in blue ink on storage box. Medal was awarded to a full-time personnel of the armed forces and merchant marines for serving for 28 days between September 3 1939 - September 2, 1945. Medals and papers from veterans affairs for W.J.J. (Walter John James) Williams. Includes medals earned during his time in service, notice of K.I.A status from the Canadian Government, newspaper clippings of W.J.J's regiment, and photographs of Walter and Louisa before Walter went to war.
