Yellowish six pointed star. Has a central design of the Royal and Imperial cypher, surmounted by a crown. The cypher is surrounded bya circle containing the words ' The 1939-45 Star'.The ribbon consists of 3 equal stripes: dark blue, red, and light blue

The 1939-1945 Star is a Second World War medal that was issued between 02 September 1939 and 08 May 1945 (Europe) or 02 September 1945 (Pacific). The medal was awarded for six months service on active operations for Army and Navy, and two months for active air-crew. Medals and papers from veterans affairs for W.J.J. (Walter John James) Williams. Includes medals earned during his time in service, notice of K.I.A status from the Canadian Government, newspaper clippings of W.J.J's regiment, and photographs of Walter and Louisa before Walter went to war. Dates ranged on medals from 193_ - 1945. Archives accession number is 2023.002
