Description

A large cortex spall. Medium grey with a beige hue and a coarse grain. The dorsal surface is covered entirely by a smooth grey/beige cortex, with an indent in the middle showing some exposed rock face, possibly from the initial removal of the spall. There's a streak of russet colour going around the indent, and extending to the edge closest to the catalogue number. The ventral surface show the initial impact site, with compression ripples doing length-wise. Some light off-white harris lines along both faces. Some use wear along outer edges.

Collected by Cyril Holbrow throughout his lifetime (1921-2021,) Found while living on his farming properties- he was a naturalist and knew the area very well. He donated his finds to the Clayburn Village Community Society.
