Net Sinker / Sinking Stone Item Number: 2023.O.007:24 from the Sto:lo Research & Resource Management Centre

Description

A large circular unfinished net sinker, with a depression in the middle. The belonging is a medium grey with some lighter particles scattered throughout, it is very porous with a very coarse grain. The depression is located in the middle on the ventral face, and the dip stops just before reaching the centre. There's a dark grey/black patch of scarring from the impact on the ventral face, and a small patch on one of the sides- possibly from the belonging moving while being worked.

Collected by Cyril Holbrow throughout his lifetime (1921-2021,) Found while living on his farming properties- he was a naturalist and knew the area very well. He donated his finds to the Clayburn Village Community Society.
