Mortar and/or Pestle Item Number: 2023.O.007:25 from the Sto:lo Research & Resource Management Centre
A large basalt mortar. The belonging is a light grey with a beige tinge, and a fine grain. The indented bowl is on the ventral face, with some light grey use-wear and scarring around the rim of the bowl. The dorsal face has some light scarring along the centre, likely from the excavation process. There is some knicks and shallow scars along the outer edge of the belonging.

Collected by Cyril Holbrow throughout his lifetime (1921-2021,) Found while living on his farming properties- he was a naturalist and knew the area very well. He donated his finds to the Clayburn Village Community Society.
