Description
(1) complete flat top hand maul. Use-wear is present on the proximal and distal surfaces. There is abrasion (3 scratches) along the handle and flared handle surfaces. The handle is polished. The belonging has spots and splatters from white paint. There are small chips present on the flared margins on the distal and proximal ends (chips are sharp and reveal blue-grey rock), which suggest the chips reflect recent damage rather than damage incurred during the tool's life. Older abrasions are also present around the proximal and distal flared margins of the handle. The distal surface is slightly convex. The distal base has oil/residue likely from adhesive.
Provenance
No provenience. Donation notes indicate that this belonging was found by Ken Krause while excavating land in the Chilliwack area sometime after 1968.
