Description

Cylindrical brown wood piece carved with an animal head on one side and a human head on the other side with a set of two or three deer hooves and two claws attached around near either end. The human head has oval eyes, a nose, cheeks, a slightly parted mouth, and long hair. The animal head has rounded eyes surrounded by a tapering oval, nostrils, a thin mouth, and an upraised brow.

Narrative

Some items in this collection are thought to have been collected by E. H. Verney, circa 1862. (The seller, D.G. Young, mistakenly wrote in his letters to MOA that the EHV stood for EH Verity.)
