Description

Ladle with flat oval shaped bowl and short rectangular handle. The handle has a downward facing finial on the end. The underside of the ladle's shallow bowl is rounded. The bowl is a light reddish brown colour while the handle is darker due to use.

History Of Use

Along the Northwest Coast, in general, undecorated spoons and ladles of wood and horn were used in everyday life, while more elaborately carved versions were used on special occassions. Ladles are used for serving food rather than eating it.
