Southern style model dugout canoe. Upswept bow with a protruding prow-piece. Painted black on the outside and red on the inside.
Narrative
The donor said this model canoe was originally collected by Col. James Peters, RCN, who came to Victoria as a Major in the Navy in 1887. Peters lived for many years in Esquimault. According to family history, Peters also traveled to the Queen Charlotte Islands in the 1880s?
