This ornament was collected from the Koksilah reserve near Duncan, BC. According to the collector, "it is a common type in use in many of the spirit dances of the winter season among many tribes of Vancouver Island. Some are more elaborate according to the skill of the maker or the amount of money available to pay a professional to make one."
