Description

Tan basket made with interlocking coiled work (bifurcated stitches). Elongated watch-spring base construction, double-strand braided loop-work border, and imbrication. Total imbrication. Design consists of four horizontal rows of "half-pyramid" forms that alternate in rows in red and in black cherry bark, all against a bullrush background with two rows of red imbrication.

History Of Use

According to Sto:lo basket makers this basket was probably used for storing roots or wool, and it would likely have been a woman's basket. . It does not have the appearance of a work basket.
