Description

Female figure standing on a lotus base. Arm on left hangs down with palm outward; arm on right bent at the elbow and protruding forward. Hand cupped in such a way as to suggest it may have held some object. Wears arm bands, bracelets, and necklaces. Earrings are round and flat with a circle design stamped on them. Skirt has incised lines indicating drapery. Casting sprue on breast on the right. Dark red brown residue over front.

History Of Use

Attendant figure and accessory to worship: probably an image of the goddess Lakshmi who would have carried a lamp (dipa), now missing.
