Rectangular, four-legged hinged-lid box. Lid is perforated to form a basket-like pattern; a stylized peacock sits on each corner; decorative knob in lid center. Plain box bottom except for narrow strip of fine incising. Two openings in back of box, one closed.
For storage of ornaments or other valuables.
Peacock relates to Karttikeya, the war god son of Shiva; this bird is Karttikeya's vehicle.
