Description

Single circular oil bowl with a spout for a wick opposite a flat handle on which a bird perches. Another bird form is incorporated at mid-point of stem supporting the bowl. Raised rib designs appear on rim of bowl, bird in stem, and circular lamp base.

History Of Use

For use in a small temple or household. Important Hindu ritual object; it is among the nine essential forms of worship.
