Pouch3332/17

Small circular pouch with needlepoint(?) embroidery on both sides. Composed of two small circular pieces of fabric, stitched together with green floss. Deep pink background with dark blue dot at centre with three-pronged leaves(?) extending out in either light green or olive green. Two white buttons, one on either side of top of opening. Decorating the edge of the pouch are ten short beaded tassels, five on either side of one long beaded tassel, which extends down from bottom centre. Each tassel has three small translucent beads, one large pink bead, and a small royal blue bead. Pouch is edged with thick red thread, and a single row of small white beads.

Pouch3332/14

Small fabric pouch composed of one piece of fabric folded on itself, then sewn on the bottom and a side, leaving an opening at the top. Central design is a large diamond, flanked by concentric triangles to create a square-shape. Within, heavily embroidered geometrical and floral designs and five small inset circular glass. Five off-white shell buttons along open edge. A single row of shells with knotted thread in orange, burgundy, and light blue-green between the shells across the bag on both sides. Four tassels with light blue beads, one red, green, taupe, and eggplant, one on each bottom corner, and one at end of each shell row. Each tassel wrapped with metallic thread. Small circular mirrors inset into dark purple circular embroidery around bottom and side edges.

Pouch made of a square piece of beige fabric, with three corners folded in on itself, and then sewn together creating an envelope-shaped case. Large orange and brown flower design at centre with burgundy petals except for two light green and two royal blue petals. Bordered by concentric squares which contain repeating asterisk designs and zigzag designs. Four pompoms, three dark purple-pink at bottom corners and tip, and one light yellow at centre of opening. Dark gold metal fibre and green-black thread lining the edge of the large square, which has then been folded and sewn.

Pouches of coconut sennit twine knotted in a macrame style. There are two pouches of different sizes tied together. Both bags have a long, curved bottom, which taper to the open top. The larger pouch has a loop on each bottom corner. The smaller pouch is very triangular in shape.

Tobacco Pouch3274/49 a-b

Pouch of plaited pandanus leaf strips. Both pouches are square-like in shape with the rim decorated with dyed fibres. The smaller pouch (part a) with the multi-coloured rim fits inside the larger pouch (part b) with the solid coloured rim. The weave on the interior of each pouch is larger than the exterior.

Two thin plaited cords extend out from either end of the flap, and both attach near the flap's centre. A long plaited carry strap is attached from the upper corners of the pouch and knotted at ends. Inside the pouch is a bundle of pandanus fibre.

Thin horizontal lines of solid colour also decorate the pouch. Two thin plaited cords extend out from either end of the flap, extending down through the centre of the flap, and then tied on either corner of the flap.
