Description

Jug composed of clay with a grey core over-fired to a mottled red and black on the surface. The clay is gritty and full of white limestone particles. Painted with off-white linear designs in horizontal and oblique bands on the neck and body to imitate rush or straw binding. The jug has a ring base, a pyriform body, a tall narrow neck, and a short upward-turned beak-like mouth forming a spout. A strap handle extends from neck to shoulder.
