Print showing a scene of a couple watching a man at a street table. Dog asleep in lower right corner. Colours are blue, brown, purple, yellow, grey and black. Black Japanese characters and red seal in lower right corner. Red characters in lower right corner of image border. The mount is marked "Made in Japan".

Narrative

This print, Daidō uranaishi (大道占師; Fortuner Teller) by Wada Sanzō (和田三造) is from the series, Showa shokugyō ezukushi daini shū (昭和職業絵尽第二輯; Occupations of Shōwa Japan in pictures, series 2), originally published by Nishinomiya shoin (西宮書院) in 1939 –1941. The original version has hand-written print and series titles. This print published by Kyoto hanga-in (京都版画院) is from a later edition. The print is signed三造 (Sanzō) with his seal in red and is marked with the publisher’s seal, 版元京都版画院 (Hanmoto Kyoto hanga-in).
