Description

Print showing a household scene of a mother and infant, with two children playing nearby. Colours are brown, grey, blue, red, yellow, pink, green, and black. Black and red Japanese characters at right and bottom corner. The mount is marked "Made in Japan".

Narrative

This print, Nōka (農家; Farming family) by Wada Sanzō (和田三造) is from the series, Showa shokugyō ezukushi (昭和職業絵尽; Occupations of Shōwa Japan in pictures), originally published by Nishinomiya shoin (西宮書院) in 1939 –1941. The original version has hand-written print and series titles. This print published by Kyoto hanga-in (京都版画院) is from a later edition. The print is signed三造 (Sanzō) with his seal in red and is marked with the publisher’s seal, 版元京都版画院 (Hanmoto Kyoto hanga-in; published by Kyoto hanga-in).
