Print showing a scene of a boy on a bicycle carrying food containers stacked high, a tree on the side of the street, and people in the background. Colours are green, blue, red, brown, grey and white. Red Japanese characters at bottom right corner. Black Japanese characters and red symbol to the right of main image. The mount is marked "Made in Japan".

Narrative

This print, Soba no demae mochi (蕎麦の出前持ち; Soba delivery boy) by Wada Sanzō (和田三造) is from the series, Showa shokugyō ezukushi daini shū (昭和職業絵尽第二輯; Occupations of Shōwa Japan in pictures, series 2), originally published by Nishinomiya shoin (西宮書院) in 1939 –1941. The original version has hand-written print and series titles. This print published by Kyoto hanga-in (京都版画院) is from a later edition. The print is signed三造 (Sanzō) with his seal in red and is marked with the publisher’s seal, 版元京都版画院 (Hanmoto Kyoto hanga-in; published by Kyoto hanga-in).
