Description

Small bull figurine with stylized features, trunk is hour glass shape when viewed from above with narrow waist and thick shoulders and rear. Snout is rectangular in shape when viewed from above with short horns and ears. Protruding legs are disproportionately long as is tail. Genitals emphasized. Colour is a uniform green patina.

Figure presumably served as a votive offering.

Narrative

This collection was said to have been acquired by James George during his service in Greece (Athens) from 1945-48. J.W. Hayes (ROM) thought the figure was likely Archaic and possibly Mycenaean.
