Description

A woman's square red, and white checkered jacquard-weave shawl. Woven designs in each check consisiting of bells, paisleys, fruit, flowers, and leaves. Has a red and white fringe all around the edges.

Narrative

The donor says that in 1958, when she spent a holiday in the village, this type of costume would have been worn regularly on Sundays. See photographs in UBC museum archives. The shawl is creased diagonally, indicating that it has been folded and worn as a triangle.
