Description
Large trunk. Front feet carved as claws; front of trunk painted black. Elaborately carved detail on front of trunk, plants, flowers, vines, and a lion on each side of center. Key hole at center top. The lid is plain except for a black painted border, sides also plain with black border. Metal handles on each end. (The tunk is part a; part b is the key.)
Narrative
Collector's note said "Bride's hope chest, of the period of the Crusades...carved with the Lion of St. Mark."
