Description

A basket woven in the shape of a heart. A piece of bark or root is tied around the middle, keeping the lid tightly closed. The lid is rimmed with red and has a design of a red outline of a heart with a light brown centre. The side of the basket has alternating horizontal rows of light brown, red, and black. There is an inscription written on the bottom with the maker name, place and date.

Narrative

This heart shaped basket was reportedly made as an anniversary gift for the Foubergs, according to Diane Billy, a former student of Margaret Lester.
