Description

Round basket with tall, straight sides and fitted, hinged lid. Hinge and fasteners at front are of skin thong. A handle goes from front to back and is made of skin thong with bark coiled around it. Sides and top are decorated with X patterns in brown with dark brown intersections.

Narrative

Anna Billy of Squamish notes that this basket looks like the work of her Aunt, Placida Dan. Accession records note that this basket was made by Mrs. Stanley Dan - an aunt of Mary James (Anna Billy's sister).
