Second Judean Revolt coin year 3. Obverse: seven-branched date palm with Year 3 and “Shimon” inscription in Hebrew (Shimon Bar Kochba). Reverse: “For the freedom of Jerusalem” in Hebrew characters with grape leaves.

History Of Use

Coin associated with Jewish rebels in the Bar Kokhba Revolt (132-135). "Shimon" refers to Shimon Bar Kochba, the Jewsih leader of the rebels in in this revolt against the Roman Empire. The then ruled the established independant Jewish state for three years until it was conquered by the Romans in 135.
