Description

Cradle accessories. Part a is a baby blanket of woven cedar bark; part b is a pillow of folded and tied cedar strips; part c is an upper cover for the blanket made of woven bark; part d is a woven head band which loops through parts f and g and holds part e over the baby's forehead; part e is a triangular shaped woven bark sun-shade; parts f-i are cedar cords that attach to the cradle sides; part j is a long cord that wraps around parts h and i.

Narrative

Made by Abaya (Ka Kla a'inla Okwa-meaning copper breaker) efat the Museum of Anthropology in 1951 while Mungo and Abaya Martin were staying at UBC, and Mungo was working for the Museum.
